The Mission

When asked what drew her to Shakespeare, Marsha would always respond with: "The wide accessibility, which results in his legacy and longevity." Shakespeare, according to our founder, should be relatable, and ever-evolving. Marsha strives to translate and adapt Shakespeare's plays into works that never feel beyond reach (though, also, never easily digestible), with a dash of fresh and personal perspectives on these established works, all while still maintaining qualities that are distinctly Shakespearean and bring them to a new audience.

Marsha also believes in art-making that is multi-disciplinary: there can be explorations across mediums in one singular project. With the Bangkok Shakespeare Troupe, Marsha and her team seek out the blending of written, performing, and visual arts. The elements in our productions, everything from the script to the costumes to the props to the sets, are made with an artist's eye behind the thinking and creating. We aim to establish a space in which disciplines can interact with one another - a space where, according to our founder, is where exciting art happens
